Coming from 50-year-old vines, our single vineyard Rosé is inspired by the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France. Valdeguié, grownin that region, is generally known by the alias Gros Auxerrois, however,our Valdeguié comes from Napa’s back side neighbor, Suisun Valley.Valdiguié produces dark colored wines that are low in alcohol. I had a Rosé made from these old vines several years ago and I got my name onthe list to get some of this fruit. This year the call finally came.
2019 Fiftyrow Old Vine Valdeguié Rosé
On the nose the dried strawberry screams at you, along with wet stone.
When you get to the palate you find flavors of berries, stone fruit
watermelon and a mineral texture. This wine is both dry and round and
the intense fruit flavors add a degree of character and creaminess that
can be elusive in a RoséVarietal:
